An organization's ability to learn, and translate that learning into action rapidly, is the ultimate competitive advantage. (Jack Welch)
The view of Copafit of Organisation
In any great organization it is far, far safer to be wrong with the majority than to be right alone. (John Kenneth Galbraith)
At Copafit, we believe that an organization is more than just a collection of people working on certain tasks. It is a living ecosystem in which commerce, organization, human resources, administration, finance and information technology must be in balance. We support the idea that an organization's ability to learn and quickly turn that knowledge into action is its ultimate competitive advantage. If you don't learn, you stand still. And in a world that changes so rapidly, standing still means going backwards.
Organizations do not just arise; they compensate for something that does not happen organically. In an ideal world, teams would spontaneously come up with innovative solutions. We all know this doesn't happen out of the blue. That's why it's important to create systems that help people get the best out of themselves without forcing them into a rigid straitjacket. Which brings us to the statement, Wanting to control everything is an illusion and totally outdated. Modern organizations understand that too much control can lead to a stifling culture where innovation is not given room.
In a perfect world, you would say, "Let everyone do what they want and everything will be fine." But in practice, it's more complicated. An organization provides a structure that allows people to work more efficiently, effectively and in harmony. It is much safer to be wrong with the majority than to be right on your own, but if you never take risks, you won't achieve anything new either. A good organization strikes a balance between safety and innovation, between the collective and the individual. It's about creating a culture where people feel supported but also challenged. "Strong together against a turbulent and hostile environment" sums it up nicely.
What inspires us at Copafit is the idea that an organization is more than the sum of its parts. It is a space within which individuals can grow, learn and contribute to something larger than themselves. Making a good combination of formal and informal connections with each other creates a network of relationships that strengthen the individual as well as the collective. Developments such as Agile and empowerment are indispensable.
When we see the overall picture and the multitude of factors that make an organization strong, we cannot help but be excited about the future. An organization that is aware of its own learning curve, that sees the value of both the individual and the collective, and that finds a balance between different aspects such as commerce and humanity, is an organization that is ready for whatever the future may bring. And that is ultimately what Copafit stands for and contributes to in all its activities.
